Stock Today: Maxis Gains 0.28% With ASB Stake Rises To 8.15%

Shares in Maxis Bhd edged higher in late morning trade on Monday after Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) increased its direct stake in the telecommunications group to 8.158%.

As at 10.51 am, Maxis rose one sen, or 0.28 per cent, to RM3.52, with 78,300 shares traded.

The stock opened at RM3.51 and moved between RM3.51 and RM3.53 during the session. Its last done price was one sen above its last adjusted closing price of RM3.51.

The buying interest followed a filing by Maxis that ASB acquired 10.26 million shares on Sept 30 through AmanahRaya Trustees Bhd, acting as trustee for the fund.

Following the acquisition, ASB’s direct interest increased to 639.71 million shares, representing an 8.158 per cent stake in Maxis.

The filing did not disclose the purchase price or total value of the transaction. The notice was dated Sept 30 and received by Maxis on Oct 2.

At RM3.52, Maxis has gained slightly from its adjusted closing level as investors tracked the latest change in ASB’s shareholding.
