Axiata informed that its Group Chief Executive Officer Nik Rizal Kamil has been appointed to the Board of the GSMA for a two-year term commencing January 2027.
The GSMA is a global organisation representing mobile operators and companies across the digital ecosystem. It convenes industry leaders, policymakers and technology partners to advance digital inclusion, spectrum access, modern regulation, privacy, sustainability and innovation. Through its advocacy, policy leadership and global platforms, including MWC and M360, the GSMA helps shape the future of mobile connectivity and digital transformation.
The GSMA Board comprises leaders from some of the world’s largest telecommunications groups and independent operators. It provides strategic direction on key industry priorities and helps shape the future of mobile connectivity.
On the appointment Nik Rizal, said: “Mobile connectivity has evolved from a communications service into a powerful driver of economic growth, digital inclusion and innovation. As 5G, AI, cloud and next-generation technologies reshape industries and societies, our challenge is not only to expand connectivity, but also to translate it into sustainable growth, greater resilience and long-term value.”
