Singapore’s Starhub To Acquire MyRepublic’s Mobile Business

StarHub will acquire MyRepublic’s mobile business in Singapore, for an undisclosed amount as it looks to expand its multi-brand mobile strategy in the country.

The telco said the acquisition brings together complementary strengths while preserving the distinct MyRepublic Mobile brand and proposition for customers. MyRepublic Mobile customers continue using their existing services without disruption, backed by StarHub’s mobile network.

It futher added that as Singapore’s digital needs continue to grow, the transaction will allow greater scale to be directed towards sustained network investment, service innovation and customer experience, while continuing to provide consumers with differentiated brands and propositions to meet different needs.

Nikhil Eapen, Chief Executive Officer, StarHub, said: “Our acquisition of MyRepublic Mobile completes a multi-year journey that began with our investment in MyRepublic Broadband in 2021, culminating in full ownership of MyRepublic across both broadband and mobile. With ongoing consolidation, we are bringing greater scale to invest more effectively in the networks, resilience and innovation that Singapore will increasingly depend on. This transaction strengthens those foundations while continuing to give consumers meaningful choice in how they connect.”

The acquisition builds on the existing relationship between StarHub and MyRepublic, with MyRepublic Mobile customers already being progressively migrated onto StarHub’s network, providing a strong foundation for a smooth transition and continuity of service. Completion of the acquisition remains subject to the fulfilment of the applicable conditions precedent by both parties.
