Bank Islam Sees MSMEs, Halal Economy And Green Financing As Key Budget 2027 Priorities

Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd will continue supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), halal businesses and renewable energy projects through financing and investment solutions, as Budget 2027 places emphasis on productivity, digitalisation and the transition towards a more sustainable economy.

Group chief executive officer Raja Datin Paduka Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz said Malaysia’s next phase of development would depend on how effectively funding, innovation and talent were mobilised to improve productivity and strengthen competitiveness.

She said financial institutions had a role in channelling capital towards strategic industries and emerging sectors, while ensuring businesses and households had access to economic opportunities.

Bank Islam will continue offering financing, trade and supply chain solutions, alongside advisory support to help MSMEs, halal businesses and entrepreneurs expand and improve their competitiveness.

The bank will also facilitate investment in renewable energy, green infrastructure and transition-related sectors through Shariah-compliant financing, sustainable finance solutions and sukuk offerings.

For underserved communities, its social finance arm, Sadaqa House, and the iTEKAD Entrepreneurship Development Programme combine financing, training and mentoring to help entrepreneurs from the asnaf group build sustainable livelihoods and improve their financial independence.

Teh Maimunah also highlighted the role of accessible financial services, including Ar-Rahnu, alongside responsible financing, savings and wealth management solutions in supporting household financial wellbeing.

She said Islamic finance could contribute to Malaysia’s development by promoting financial inclusion, sustainability and responsible economic participation.

Bank Islam remains committed to directing resources towards businesses and sectors that support long-term economic growth, while widening access to financial services and delivering broader social benefits, she added.
