The government will table an E-Commerce Bill at the next parliamentary sitting to strengthen accountability among online platforms and sellers.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government was also reviewing legal and enforcement measures to protect local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from unfair competition by foreign e-commerce companies operating in Malaysia without adequate oversight.
The measures are also intended to ensure products purchased by consumers are safe, amid concerns from small traders over competition from foreign online businesses.
