National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers earning RM2,500 or less a month will be eligible for repayment deferments in 2027 under Budget 2027.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said borrowers earning between RM2,500 and RM3,000 monthly would be required to make minimum repayments of just RM50.
The measures are expected to benefit more than 400,000 PTPTN borrowers.
Borrowers with no arrears who make repayments regularly will also receive a 10% discount.
Separately, employers will be eligible for tax deductions when repaying PTPTN loans on behalf of their employees. The incentive will cover repayments made between Jan 1, 2027 and Dec 31, 2028.
