Budget 2027: Langkawi, Labuan Tax-Free Purchase Raised To RM10k

The duty-free shopping limit for visitors and tourists in Langkawi and Labuan will be raised to RM10,000 under Budget 2027, subject to a minimum stay of 48 hours.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the measure aims to boost tourism on the two duty-free islands, with more locally made products from Langkawi also set to qualify for import duty exemptions to support local entrepreneurs.

Separately, QR payment services will be expanded to 15 locations next year, including resort islands where limited access to ATMs has made it difficult for visitors to make cash withdrawals and affected small traders’ sales.
