Prasarana To Utilise RM3.4 Billion Rail Recovery Investment Under Budget 2027

Prasarana Malaysia Bhd will invest RM3.4 billion in a comprehensive rail recovery programme as the government continues the My50 unlimited travel pass under Budget 2027.

The investment will focus on strengthening rail system resilience, improving asset performance and reliability, and reducing the risk of service disruptions, the public transport operator said in a statement.

Prasarana said it would intensify efforts to improve operational efficiency, strengthen maintenance and address technical issues to ensure rail services remain stable, safe and reliable.

The government will also continue the My50 travel pass, which benefits about 300,000 users of Rapid KL’s rail and bus services in the Klang Valley each month.

Prasarana said the continuation of the pass would help ease the cost of living for commuters who depend on public transport for their daily journeys.

The company added that it would continue providing safe, efficient, inclusive and sustainable public transport services, supporting the government’s target of increasing public transport’s modal share to 40% by 2030.
