Magnitude 6.4 Earthquake Hits Panama, No Tsunami Threat To Malaysia

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Panama at 4:25 am on Saturday (Oct 10), with the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) confirming there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 30km, at coordinates 7.6° north and 81.5° west, according to information issued by the department at 4:39 am.

The epicentre was reported to be 1,396km north of Sullana, Peru.

MetMalaysia said the bulletin was its final update on the earthquake unless further developments or additional information become available.
