AirAsia pledges earthquake relief for Lombok

AirAsia will provide air transport assistance to emergency aid organisations to support earthquake relief efforts in Lombok, Indonesia. Some 20,000 people have been left homeless after the 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck the island on August 5th, 2018, killing at least 131 people.

The assistance will cover air travel of aid workers and volunteer medical professionals. This includes transportation of relief items such as hygiene kits, dry food supplies and blankets.

It is the second major earthquake on the popular tourist destination in the span of a week. Indonesia has evacuated hundreds of tourists from popular resorts and sent rescuers fanning across the holiday island.

Registered aid organisations are welcome to email their requests for assistance to [email protected], where further instructions on conditions of carriage will be provided after evaluation. Members of the public who wish to know more about AirAsia’s relief support efforts may visit AirAsia’s Facebook or Twitter account for more details.
