Piece Future and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation will be collaborating to supercharge businesses in Malaysia through technologies from a renowned MNC to deliver sustainable value.
This comes after the successful launch of the regional open-innovation challenge IPHatch Malaysia on Dec 10, 2020. The challenge offers patents from patent owners such as Nokia, Panasonic, and Ricoh to award-winning business proposals from startups and entrepreneurs.
The patented technologies cover communications, imaging, navigation, smart sensors, AR/VR and data analytics among others.
“IP rights should be an important aspect of consideration for many startups. This is because by doing so they will add to the value of their brands and solutions, turning what are just ideas into valued assets. IPHatch’s unique approach in leveraging Big Tech company patents to help grow and scale startups is just the kind of programme that Malaysia needs in order to level up the startups in the country, and we are privileged to collaborate with Piece Future to launch IPHatch Malaysia,” said Gopi Ganesalingam, Vice President of Digitally Powered Business Division, MDEC.
Participants will then be offered deep dive sessions for patent portfolio technicalities, panel discussions with renowned speakers in the innovation industries as well as intensive business-modelling and coaching workshops before their pitch days.
By co-organising with Global Growth Acceleration division at MDEC, their mandate to fuel high-potential Malaysian headquartered tech companies to skyrocket on the global stage fits the goals of IPHatch and its purpose to spur local innovation, to create local global companies and position Malaysia as the Heart of Digital ASEAN.
“IPHatch have enabled us to secure better investment opportunities and allow me to expand my research and development capabilities beyond our existing roadmap. We managed to solve new challenges and came up with a new product based on the needs of our customers. Patent portfolios from an MNC can also help to boost our branding and make our technology stand out better ” said Jian Ming, CEO of Moon Technologies.
