MPI Plans To Build Semicon Plant In Suzhou Industrial Park

Malaysian Pacific Industries Berhad via its subsidiary Carsem Holdings (HK) Limited has entered into an Investment Agreement with Suzhou Industrial Park Suxiang Cooperation Zone Management Committee for a proposed new Semicon plant to be situated at the Suzhou Industrial Park Suxiang Cooperation Zone, China.

The group will be setting up a new wholly-owned subsidiary in the PRC to undertake the investment and to construct the plant for the purpose of the design and providing assembly and test services for semiconductor and electronic components.

SXIP is the governmental body fully responsible for the matters of economic and social development in the Suxiang Cooperation Zone.

Upon signing of the Agreement, SXIP will commence land acquisition procedures in the Suxiang Cooperation Zone for the proposed acquisition, the size of the Land is estimated to be 100Mu (or approximately 66,667 square meters) and the usage term is expected to be 50 years. The price of the Land for the term of 50 years is estimated to be RMB22.40 million (approximately RM14.81 million).

Founded in 1972, Carsem is a leading provider of turnkey packaging and test services to the semiconductor industry, offering one of the largest package and test portfolios in the world.

The semiconductor assembly and test businesses are undertaken by Carsem (M) and Carsem Suzhou. The current combined operations of both companies, also known as “Carsem”, makes it one of the largest independent semiconductor sub-contract assembly house in the world, producing over 100 million units per week with more than 65% of this volume is shipped as fully tested products.
