Keretapi Tanah Melayu, the railway operator for KTM and ETS intercity has announced that the 2022 ticket sales are now open.
The national train service will be allowing users to start buying tickets online from January 5 for the travel period from January 15 to June 30 with a new time schedule. Under the new schedule, KTM has also stated that it will increase the ETS service to 32 and the intercity KTM increased to 20. There will be 2 new add-on routes, Gemas- Gua Musang and Gemas- Kuala Lipis-Gemas using diesel locomotives.
KTM decided to open ticket sales for a longer duration so that customers could book their journey in advance as festive seasons are usually busy periods. Chinese New year is in January, followed by Hari Raya which is usually peak travel time for many customers.
Outstation travel has been hindered in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 lockdowns, next year will be somewhat a new experience of travel during the holiday season with the full reopening of the services.
