Embassy of Netherlands Celebrated King’s Day in KL

On April 27, 2022, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands celebrated Netherlands’ King’s Day in Kuala Lumpur. King’s Day marks the birthday of Dutch King Willem-Alexander.

In Netherlands, streets turn orange, nationwide, the national colour of the Dutch.

The Dutch royal family bears the name: ‘House of Oranje’. This literally means the House of Orange. Hence, the colour orange became The Netherlands’ national colour.

On King’s Day people wear orange clothes, often even donning orange wigs or make-up.

To mark this special day, the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Malaysia handed out orange tulip bouquets to special stakeholders such as MIDA (Malaysian Investment Development Authority), InvestKL and DBKL.

They also handed out orange tulips to the Malaysian public and lit up the KL tower in orange.

The Netherlands stands for innovation, sustainability and inventiveness.
