Digi Shareholders Approve On New Merged Company To Be Called Celcom Digi Berhad

With Axiata shareholders giving the seal of approval for the merger of Celcom and Digi, the board of directors at Digi.Com Berhad has announced that the company’s shareholders have also approved the proposed merger between the two telecommunication companies.

Digi said it will file a formal filing on the outcome of the EGM to Bursa Malaysia once the market reopens in the coming week.

Approval by both Digi’s and Axiata Group Berhad’s shareholders is one of the final steps in the proposed merger approval process, having previously been cleared by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, the Securities Commission, and Bursa Malaysia.

At completion, Axiata and Telenor will hold equal ownership of 33.1 percent each in the newly merged company, which is proposed to be named Celcom Digi Berhad.
