MCMC Says Action Taken Is Guided By Communication Act

MCMC says it is guided by the provisions of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA 1998), in carrying out its function, which includes taking the necessary actions in preventing the commission or attempted commission of an offence under any written law of Malaysia.

The regulator also said it is obligated to assist other law enforcement agencies in enforcing the laws under their purview. This is in regard to the report that the Communication and Digital Minister instructed the commission to block sites.

MCMC added that upon taking any actions required, the matters will be subject to investigation including those performed by any other law enforcement agencies. Therefore, the Commission will not be in a position to give any comments until the conclusion of the said cases.
