MyAirline Sdn Bhd (MyAirline) suspends its operations effective 12 October 2023 until further notice.

MYAirline’s Board of Directors, said “We deeply regret and apologise for having to make this decision as we understand the impact it will have on our loyal passengers, dedicated employees and partners. We have worked tirelessly to explore various partnership and capital raising options to prevent this suspension. Unfortunately, the constraints of time have left us with no alternative but to take this decision.”

We understand the inconvenience this may cause, and we are committed to assisting you through this situation. Kindly reach out to us at [email protected], and our support team will be readily available to provide their assistance.

In the meantime, we are advising affected passengers to not head to the airport and seek for alternative travel arrangements to their destinations.

The Board, shareholders and all of us at MYAirline will be working tirelessly to resume operations as quickly as possible but at this stage we are unable to commit to any timeline.

“We reiterate our sincerest apologies for any difficulty and inconvenience arising from this suspension and will do our utmost to provide any updates which become availabl,” it added.

Earlier, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the needs to explain any issues faced to the through the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) before the agency provides any assistance, said the minister concerned.

“We will look at their problems (in which aspects the ministry can help) in terms of facilities, licensing and regulatory support.

“We will try to facilitate and give them some space, but they need to meet us to explain what their problems are,” he said on Wednesday.

When asked about media reports regarding the financial status of the low-cost airline or the possibility of being taken over, Anthony said he had not received any relevant information. “So far, I have not received any information from Mavcom. I don’t know if they sold (the airline) to whom or who will take over. That is beyond my knowledge.

“If there are any changes, interested parties or other parties, of course Mavcom needs to be informed. But, so far I understand that there is no information (about that),” he said.

Earlier, Sarawak media claimed that the low-cost airline is believed to be accepting a potential new investor, the son of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Abang Abdillah Izzarim Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari following the financial problems that hit MYAirline. This comes after MyAirline CEO Rayner Teo resigned effective 7 October 2023 citing health reasons.
