Alliance Bank Appoints Chia As Lee Retires From Directorial Post

Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad’s (Alliance Bank) non-independent non executive director Lee Ah Boon is retiring after serving more than 11 years effective today (Nov 3).

In a Bursa filing today, the group also said he is also no longer with group information technology committee (GITC) and executive committee (Exco), arising from his resignation as a director.

Lee, 72, who is Singaporean also left the risk committee, leading to some changes in related committees.

Aside from that, the group said it also appointed Chia Yew Hock Wilson as non-independent and non executive director and as a new member in GITC and Group Sustainability Committee (GSC) and GITC.

Chia, 69, is a seasoned banker with 35 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Currently, he is a banking consultant and advisor to banks in ASEAN since April 2016 on various areas such as organisation strategy, customer segmentation and risk management.

“Most recently, Chia was banking advisor and CEO Designate to a consortium group applying for a Digital Bank licence in Singapore from February 2020 to December 2020.

“Over the course of his career, Chia has been with Fullerton Financial Holdings (FFH), during which he was Head of SME and Commercial Banking, overseeing portfolios across emerging markets including Indonesia, Malaysia.

“Before joining FFH, Chia served 23 years in Standard Chartered Bank. His last position held was as Country Head, Consumer and SME Banking, China.

“Prior to his banking career, he has performed financial controller roles in multinational companies,” the group added.
