Coin design

The design of the commemorative coins is as follows:

1. Coloured Sterling Silver Commemorative Coin (proof) – Square shaped

Obverse – The front side showcases the grand Suluh Budiman building situated on UPSI’s Tanjung Malim campus, set against a 3D engraving of a tembusu tree—an iconic feature scattered across the campus. Both the building and the tree represent the historic roots of UPSI, formerly recognized as the Sultan Idris Training College (SITC). The coin’s center displays the text ‘SAMBUTAN 100 TAHUN UPSI.

Reverse – The inscription ‘BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA,’ identifying the issuer of the numismatic coins, is elegantly featured along the perimeter of a stylized motif resembling the Grand Bell, crafted in an almost-complete circle. The Grand Bell, historically employed during UPSI’s early years, served as a symbolic timekeeper for organizing significant activities for the students

The denomination ’10 RINGGIT,’ representing the face value, is displayed on the left, accompanied by the silhouettes of UPSI graduates, affectionately known as Anak Kandung Suluh Budiman, on the right. Additionally, the colorful official logo of UPSI100 is intricately incorporated within the Grand Bell.

2. Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U.) Commemorative Coin

Obverse – The inscription ‘UNIVERSITI PENDIDIKAN SULTAN IDRIS’ is displayed along the upper circumference, set against a backdrop inspired by the stylized motif of the Grand Bell. Positioned in the center of the coin are the emblems of UPSI and its predecessors – SITC, MPSI, and IPSI.

Reverse – The inscription ‘BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA,’ designating the issuer of the numismatic coins, is elegantly presented along the upper circumference. Simultaneously, the bottom circumference displays the text ‘1 RINGGIT,’ indicating its face value. The coin showcases the official UPSI100 logo and an image of an open book, symbolizing the abundance of knowledge.
