Bursa Remains Lower At Midday

Bursa Malaysia remained lower at midday on Thursday, in sync with the weaker regional markets’ performance, dragged down by selling pressure in the financial services sector.

Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) lost seven sen to RM8.90, Public Bank Bhd eased four sen to RM4.28, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd slid six sen to RM5.84, and Hong Leong Bank Bhd erased 16 sen to RM19.30.

These counters pulled the composite index down by a combined 4.27 points.  

At 12.30pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) decreased by 7.14 points to 1,457.42, from Wednesday (Dec 20)’s close of 1,464.56. 

The FBM KLCI opened 1.39 points lower at 1,463.17 and moved between 1,457.28 and 1,463.17 throughout the morning trading session, Bernama reported.
