Cisco and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) are reshaping the landscape of education, propelling it into the digital era with the introduction of advanced smart classrooms. This transformative initiative, an integral part of Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program in Malaysia, marks a significant stride towards hybrid and flexible learning.

Cisco Malaysia Managing Director, Hana Raja stated “We are proud to have taken the next step in our partnership to invest in hybrid learning experiences with our suite of AI-powered collaboration and seamless digital connectivity technologies for students to learn from anywhere.”

Six pilot classrooms at UTM have been transformed into state-of-the-art smart learning spaces, equipped with Cisco’s cutting-edge collaboration and secure connectivity technologies.

The initiative aims to enhance the overall learning experience for students, lecturers, researchers, and administrators.

In their effort to embrace the future of learning, the collaboration focuses on providing a dynamic blend of virtual and in-person learning experiences.

UTM and Cisco are redefining learning environments and meeting spaces across campuses to empower students with a versatile learning journey from anywhere.

Cisco together with Atek Technology has deployed purpose-built, Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered collaboration tools and connectivity solutions. Technologies include the Cisco Roomkit, Webex Smart Boards, Switches, LED TV, and cameras, delivering engaging hybrid learning experiences.

Aligned with UTM’s enVision 2025, the partnership facilitates the development of digital content, empowers blended learning implementation, and offers academic programs entirely online. The state-of-the-art facilities accelerate UTM’s progress in realising its vision for the future of education.

UTM Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail stated, “This partnership not only enhances our technological capabilities but also positions UTM as a pioneer in the adoption of advanced learning solutions.”

The initial phase has already impacted nearly 1,000 students positively, and the benefits include the ability to learn from anywhere, enhanced user experience for teaching and learning, and enriched digital content.

Cisco and UTM have collaboratively developed a training and quarterly technology refresh program to ensure synchronised transformation. The program focuses on effective use of Cisco devices and solutions, enabling seamless teaching and learning from anywhere.

The Cisco-UTM collaboration signifies a remarkable leap towards modernizing education, fostering innovation, and providing students with enhanced learning opportunities.
