Kitaro Headlining Rainforest World Music Festival 2024

Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) has unveiled the eagerly awaited Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2024, set to be a transformative celebration under the theme ‘Evolution’. In its 27th edition, the RWMF promises an immersive experience that transcends music, incorporating responsible tourism, cultural celebration, and environmental stewardship.

The festival lineup is set to dazzle with 20 acts in total, featuring 68 international musicians from 14 countries across 6 continents alongside 63 Malaysian artists.

This exciting event promises to create a musical fusion like never before, showcasing the richness of global musical traditions in the heart of Sarawak.

Among the headlining acts is the renowned Grammy and Golden Globe award winner Kitaro, whose ethereal compositions are set to enchant audiences. Joining him is West Malaysia’s own Dato’ Zainalabidin, known for his iconic hit song ‘Hijau’, and Sarawak’s own Belle Sisoski, a passionate advocate for indigenous rights and environmental conservation.

Other international acts include Alright Mela Meets Santoo, Bourbon Lassi, Imarhan, Krakatau Ethno, Nini, Rizal Hadi and Folk, Rhythm Rebels Featuring Selonding Bali Aga, and Tribal Tide. Malaysian acts include The Borneo Collective, Adrian G, Alena Murang, Nisa Addina, Salammusik, The Colour of Sound’s Malaysia, Tuni Sundatang, and Zarul @OurBodySound.

The festival is not just about music; it embodies sustainability and responsible tourism. Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry & Performing Arts Sarawak, Datuk Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said, “The Rainforest World Music Festival 2024 transcends its role as a mere music festival; it embodies the theme of ‘EVOLUTION’, where sustainability, responsible tourism, and cultural exchange blend in perfect harmony.”

Ticket options cater to every enthusiast, from coveted 3-day passes to 1-day passes, with early bird pricing available. Children aged 3-12 can join in the excitement, while admission is free for children below 3 years old.

In line with the theme of ‘Evolution’, the festival continues to advocate for sustainability and responsible tourism. From eco-friendly initiatives to promoting greener practices, the RWMF aims to inspire positive change for a better, more environmentally conscious future.

Sarawak Tourism Board, CEO, Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor said “With the Evolution of RWMF, we are transforming the festival into a dynamic platform that advocates sustainable practices in tourism and conservation, paving the way for the next 25 years of this festival.”
