KTM has announced that all ETS tickets for North bound and the special ELA train to the East Coast have been sold out in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke a total of 119,880 ETS tickets for the travel period from April 4 to 15 and 952 ELA tickets by have been sold. Following the high demand for ETS services, KTMB has provided six additional trains for the same period involving two services each for the KL Sentral – Padang Besar – KL Sentral route; KL Sentral – Butterworth – KL Sentral and KL Sentral – Ipoh – KL Sentral.
For now the additional ETS train offering 1,260 tickets daily or a total of 15,120 tickets including the ETS express train is also selling well with 12,853 tickets or equivalent to 85 percent having been sold since March 22. “For North bound involving 32 ETS services a day for all routes and end at Padang Besar while the ELA Special Train that will stop at 17 stations will end at Tumpat.
Loke said the frequency of commuter train services from KL Sentral to Tanjung Malim and vice versa during peak hours will change to every 15 minutes from April 20 compared to every 60 minutes currently. He said it would involve seven trips during the morning peak time (7-9am) from Tanjung Malim to KL Sentral and six trips during the afternoon peak time (5pm-7pm) involving KL Sentral to Tanjung Malim.
Meanwhile, “KVDT1 (Klang Valley Double Track Project Phase One) which includes the completion of track and infra works in the Rawang-KL Sentral sector was completed last Sunday so it gives way to a more frequent track route frequency (15 minutes) during peak hours. “Currently the frequency of the frequency every 15 minutes is only during peak hours and we expect by June or July that frequency will be done throughout the day” he said.
