Renowned Malaysian actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh is set to be the lead role in the highly anticipated “The Blade Runner 2099” series. The Oscar-winning actress’s involvement in the project was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, although specific details regarding her role are being kept under wraps.

According to sources cited by Variety, Yeoh will portray a character named Olwen, described as “a replicant near the end of her life.” The limited series, ordered by Amazon Prime Video, serves as a sequel to the iconic Blade Runner film and its 2017 follow-up, Blade Runner 2049, starring Ryan Gosling.

Directed by Jonathan van Tulleken, known for his work on “Shogun,” the series promises to deliver a compelling narrative set in a futuristic world. Yeoh’s casting adds further excitement to the project, given her impressive track record in both international and Asian cinema.

At 61 years old, Yeoh continues to make waves in the entertainment industry.
