New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, currently on a three-day working visit to Malaysia, met with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who also serves as the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, in Kuala Lumpur today.
The meeting, held at 2:30 p.m. at a local hotel, was organised by the New Zealand delegation and lasted approximately an hour. Discussions centred on enhancing cooperation in the realm of new energy, reflecting both nations’ commitment to sustainable development.
Present at the meeting were key officials, including the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), Datuk Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli, the Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission (ST), Datuk Abdul Razib Dawood, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), Datuk Hamzah Hussin.
This visit marks Luxon’s first trip to Malaysia since taking office as New Zealand’s Prime Minister in November 2023. During his visit, Luxon also met with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya yesterday. The two leaders discussed strengthening cooperation in the Malaysia-New Zealand student exchange programme and the halal industry, and they agreed to boost bilateral trade by 50 per cent.
