Iskandar Set to Shine At Invest Malaysia 2024

Bursa Malaysia Berhad is gearing up for Invest Malaysia 2024, taking place on 26 September in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru. This flagship event will be co-hosted with Maybank, CIMB Securities, and HSBC Malaysia.

The conference, themed “Where Policy Meets Progress,” will be officiated by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who will deliver the keynote address. Focused on positioning Iskandar as Malaysia’s premier southern gateway, the event will highlight significant developments, including the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JSSEZ) and various investor incentives.

Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift, CEO of Bursa Malaysia, expressed pride in welcoming the Prime Minister, stating that the event aims to attract both foreign and local investors, offering insights into Malaysia’s macroeconomic landscape, particularly in Johor.

The event will feature notable speakers, including:

  • YAB Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Chief Minister of Johor
  • YB Rafizi Ramli, Minister of Economy

Sessions will cover a range of topics, including:

  • Malaysia Data Centre: Trends & Investments: An exploration of the current landscape and strategies for data centre investments.
  • Johor’s Property Market & Outlook: Insights into the resilience and growth of Johor’s property market.
  • GLICs Panel Session: Discussion on the Ministry of Finance’s GEAR-UP initiative aimed at economic reform.
  • The JSSEZ: Potential Impact on Regional Development: An analysis of the JSSEZ and its implications for businesses.

Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift noted that these discussions will deepen the global investment community’s understanding of Malaysia’s competitive edge as a sustainable investment destination.

Invest Malaysia – Iskandar is the fifth edition in this year’s Invest Malaysia series, following events in Melbourne, China, Singapore, and Hong Kong. The invitation-only conference is expected to attract over 500 delegates, representing foreign fixed income, equity, and private equity investors with a combined Asset Under Management exceeding USD13.5 trillion (approximately RM56.7 trillion).
