Idriss To Drive Economic Growth In South Selangor With Strategic Incentives

The Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss) is poised to be a key driver of economic growth, according to state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility, Ng Sze Han. The initiative is set to enhance Selangor’s competitiveness with strategic projects already underway.

Ng highlighted the state government’s commitment to attracting both local and foreign investors, announcing a range of incentives to encourage participation in the Idriss development project. These include interest-free instalments for development charges, a five-year exemption on business licence fees, and savings on land premiums through the Special Premium Scheme Incentive.

Additionally, investors will benefit from a 50% discount on land and vacant building taxes for up to three years. “This initiative demonstrates the state government’s commitment to providing a comprehensive investment package to attract local and foreign investors,” Ng said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Spanning over 16,000 acres, Idriss aims to ensure an equitable distribution of Selangor’s economic activities and create more job opportunities. The development will encompass various sectors, including industrial manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, ports, business, housing, tourism, and education.

Previously, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari revealed that Idriss, located in Sepang and Kuala Langat, will establish new investment hubs and industrial zones under the First Selangor Plan. With nine active projects already in motion, Idriss is set to be a transformative project for the region, contributing to sustainable development and improving the standard of living for the people of Selangor.
