AirAsia has reiterated its commitment to affordable travel for students through the FLYsiswa programme by offering 52 routes between Peninsular and East Malaysia.
The airlines e-voucher for the FLYsiswa programme applies for flight bookings across 12 destinations between Peninsular Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Kota Bahru, Penang and East Malaysia to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Tawau, Bintulu, Miri, Sibu, Sandakan and Labuan. This initiative is also applicable for flights between Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
Datuk Captain Chester Voo, Deputy Group CEO (Airline Operations) of AirAsia Aviation Group said: “This year, we received over 21,000 submissions from verified students in public universities across the country, with nearly 80 per cent successfully redeeming their vouchers with AirAsia. We are delighted that AirAsia remains a top choice for travel in the region, particularly among students.
“Following the government’s announcement today to increase the subsidy to RM400 starting 1 January 2025, we are confident that we can enable the students to travel home affordably while benefiting from our extensive domestic connectivity.”
The eligibility criteria of the FLYsiswa programme are set by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia. The programme is open to students pursuing tertiary education at a public university in Malaysia. Eligibility includes students from Sabah, Sarawak, or the Federal Territory of Labuan, studying in Peninsular Malaysia; students from Peninsular Malaysia, studying in Sabah, Sarawak, or the Federal Territory of Labuan; and students from Sabah, Sarawak, or the Federal Territory of Labuan studying in each other’s regions.
The application process has been extended until 22 December for this year
