TOA Paint (Thailand) Co Ltd marked the 20th anniversary of its Malaysian subsidiary, TOA Paint Products Sdn Bhd, with a gala dinner at Everly Putrajaya. The event was attended by distributors, customers, and vendors, with Tunku Zain Al-‘Abidin of Negeri Sembilan as the guest of honour.
The evening featured performances by local artists Alif Kadim and Winnie K, recognition of distributors’ milestones, and the unveiling of TOA Paint Products’ new marine coating and anti-fouling line. This launch signals TOA’s expansion into the growing marine coatings sector, driven by rising demand in Asia’s shipbuilding and maritime industries
“With over 30 years of experience in producing marine and anti-fouling coatings from our HQ, we believe now is the perfect time to introduce our range in Malaysia,” said Lau Pui Kuan, Research & Development Manager of TOA Paint Products Sdn Bhd.
TOA’s new Captain Marine and Captain Anti-Fouling product lines aim to combat biofouling, which affects vessel efficiency and fuel consumption. “Fouling growth increases frictional resistance, forcing ships to consume more fuel and emit more carbon,” said Jatuphat Tangkaravakoon, CEO of TOA Group. “Our coatings help shipowners protect their fleets, reduce costs, and meet environmental standards.”
The Captain Anti-Fouling range incorporates advanced biocide technology to minimise environmental impact while preventing the growth of marine organisms. “The maritime industry is under increasing pressure to reduce its environmental footprint,” said Lau. “Our coatings not only protect ships but also contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.”

TOA’s coatings support compliance with international regulations such as the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII). The company also follows strict environmental standards in its production processes to minimise harmful substances.
Established in 2004, TOA Paint Products Sdn Bhd operates across six key segments, including Decorative Paint, Wood Coating, and Heavy Duty Coating. The company recently relocated its operations to Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, reinforcing Malaysia’s role as a critical market and strategic hub.
“Malaysia has been a cornerstone of our regional success,” said Tangkaravakoon. “As we celebrate 20 years here, we remain committed to delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers while supporting sustainable development.”
