Bursa Opens Lower; FBM KLCI Dips 0.29%

Bursa Malaysia opened in negative territory on Friday, tracking cautious regional sentiment as key indices slipped across the board.

As at 9.01am, the FBM KLCI fell 4.38 points or 0.29% to 1,522.24, after moving between 1,522.47 and 1,522.04 in early trade.

Broader market performance also mirrored the downtrend, with the FBM 70 retreating 48.04 points to 16,454.62, while the FBM Emas dropped 32.05 points to 11,412.87. The FBM Shariah Index slid 35.66 points to 11,361.85, and the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index declined 2.67 points to 921.68.

OCR Group led early market activity with 28 million shares traded, unchanged at RM0.035. Astro fell half a sen to RM0.185 with 27.84 million shares done, while SFP Tech slipped 0.5 sen to RM0.220 on volume of 25 million shares.

SNS Network shed one sen to RM0.495, while Velesto Energy bucked the trend, rising one sen to RM0.190 with over 22 million shares changing hands.

The overall market tone remains cautious amid ongoing global macroeconomic developments and investors awaiting clearer signals from key central banks.
