Malaysia must remain adaptable, reinforce its institutions, and maintain a clear policy direction to reach high-income status, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told delegates at the Sasana Symposium 2025 today.
In his keynote speech, Anwar stressed that the MADANI Economic Framework outlines this vision, highlighting two central pillars.
“First, industrial policies should be modernised, focusing on sectoral competitiveness, digital transformation, green growth and value chain upgrading,” he said.
“Second, the benefits of economic expansion should be broad-based, particularly for the vulnerable and underserved segments of our society.”
Anwar added that the MADANI reform agenda takes a whole-of-nation approach, with focus on five key areas: fiscal sustainability and governance, subsidy rationalisation, tax reform, human capital upliftment and institutional integrity.
