The Home Minister’s Office has issued a public warning following the emergence of fake TikTok accounts impersonating Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in a scam offering false financial aid.
The fraudulent accounts, which misuse the minister’s image and name, are promoting a fake assistance scheme via a WhatsApp link in their bio, a tactic meant to lure victims into making advance payments.
“This is a scam designed to exploit unsuspecting individuals,” the Home Minister’s Office said in a statement.
Both the police and TikTok have been alerted about the matter. So far, three accounts — @Saifuddin_Nasution0, @Saifuddin_Nasution1 and @Saifuddin_Nasution12 — have been taken down. However, officials warn that more fake profiles may appear.
The minister’s office made clear that the minister does not offer aid via social media or request money of any kind.
The public is urged to verify all information before engaging with any online offers and to refer only to official sources. The Home Minister’s verified TikTok account is @saifuddin_nasution.
The office stressed that legal action will be taken against any parties found responsible for the scam.
