i-City, Malaysia’s leading digital city, has announced a strategic alliance with AgiBot Innovation (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., a prominent Chinese embodied AI company. The partnership will establish the nation’s first AI & Robotics Experience Centre at i-City, marking a huge step in its goal to become a regional hub for next-generation technologies and smart city innovations.
For i-City, the alliance is a defining milestone that strengthens its role as the epicentre of Malaysia’s AI and robotics transformation. AgiBot, widely regarded as a leader in embodied AI in China, will bring its world-class robotics expertise to Malaysia for the first time.
Backed by Tencent, LG and JD.com, the company is piloting its first major overseas deployment at i-City, applying embodied AI across property, hospitality, tourism and day-to-day urban life.
Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, Chairman of I-Berhad, i-City’s master developer, stated that the partnership enhances i-City’s status as Malaysia’s smart ultrapolis and positions it to attract global investors, innovators, and talents.
“By joining forces with AgiBot, we are making i-City the epicentre of AI and Robotics innovation in Malaysia,” he added. Deng Tai Hua, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of AgiBot, highlighted their shared vision to transform urban living through embodied AI, aiming to set new standards for smart cities in the region.
The first phase of the partnership involves unveiling an AI and Robotics Experience Centre by the end of the year, introducing the public to embodied AI technologies.
Future initiatives span robotics-enabled hospitality and the debut of an AI Smart Tower, a property project centred on wellness that leverages AI and robotics to improve quality of life and extend longevity.
This partnership underscores i-City’s ongoing commitment to innovation and its ambition to lead Malaysia’s digital economy. By embedding AI and robotics into the township’s core, i-City and AgiBot are paving the way towards an intelligent, more dynamic, and future-ready urban centre.
