A total of 20 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 5pm today, with Johan Setia in Selangor registering the highest level at 166.
According to the Department of Environment (DOE), Shah Alam and Pasir Gudang in Johor recorded the second-highest readings at 164 each.
Cheras in Kuala Lumpur and Larkin in Johor both registered API readings of 162, followed by Nilai in Negeri Sembilan at 161 and Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur at 160.
In Selangor, unhealthy readings were also recorded in Klang at 158, Petaling Jaya at 155 and Banting at 143, in addition to Johan Setia and Shah Alam.
Johor continued to record several affected areas, with Kota Tinggi at 155 and Pengerang at 152, alongside Pasir Gudang and Larkin. Kluang also remained in the unhealthy range at 110.
In Negeri Sembilan, Seremban registered an API reading of 153, while Nilai stood at 161.
In Pahang, both Indera Mahkota and Balok Baru in Kuantan recorded readings of 156.
Putrajaya registered an API of 157, while Kuala Terengganu recorded 154.
Bandaraya Melaka was also in the unhealthy category at 125, while Kota Bharu in Kelantan recorded 103.
API readings between 101 and 200 are classified as unhealthy and may particularly affect sensitive groups, including children, the elderly and people with respiratory or heart conditions.
The public has been advised to reduce outdoor activities, wear face masks when necessary and continue monitoring air-quality updates through the DOE’s official channels.
