Ahead of the full implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) targeted fuel subsidy system tomorrow (30 September 2025), the Government has urged the public to ensure that details on their MyKad and driving licences are accurate to avoid eligibility issues.
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Ministry of Transport (MoT) highlighted that some driving licences still carry old numbers such as police, military, or previous IC numbers, that do not match the 12-digit MyKad format. Eligible citizens are advised to verify their licence information, including:
- Correct 12-digit MyKad number recorded on the licence.
- Accurate name of the licence holder.
- Correct class and vehicle type listed.
Details on driving licences will be cross-checked against MyKad data, which is used by payment terminals at petrol stations to verify subsidy eligibility. Any discrepancies must be updated at the Road Transport Department (JPJ). MoF and MoT will coordinate weekly data alignment to ensure all eligible Malaysians can access the subsidised fuel price.
On the second day of BUDI95 trials for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients on 28 September, nearly 500,000 of 6.1 million STR recipients, along with Malaysian Armed Forces and Royal Malaysia Police personnel, completed transactions at petrol stations nationwide. RM22.9 million was recorded for 11.5 million litres of RON95 at the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre, with MyKad verification running smoothly.
The system will expand to all 16 million Malaysians with active MyKad and driving licences starting tomorrow. Since the launch of the BUDI95 portal on 25 September, 8.6 million users have checked their eligibility. The portal now includes a transaction history feature, accessible via registration and login using MyDigital ID, which safeguards digital identity and personal information.
