AMBS And Lean In Malaysia Team Up To Accelerate Women Leaders

Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), part of The University of Manchester, has partnered with Lean In Malaysia as a supporting sponsor for the Lean In Career Programme (LICP) 8.0, Malaysia’s leading women’s leadership accelerator. The initiative aims to empower women leaders through scholarships, mentorship and coaching.

LICP 8.0 provides participants with practical tools, professional networks and structured workshops to accelerate their careers. The programme also offers personalised coaching and access to senior industry mentors, along with a safe space for women to share experiences and support one another.

Winners of the Lean In Career Programme 8.0 receive recognition for their leadership potential, including scholarship and mentorship opportunities from Alliance Manchester Business School to support their continued growth.

Three winners of LICP 8.0 received growth opportunities, including partial scholarships for the Manchester Global MBA, career coaching sessions and mentorship coffee chats with AMBS alumni. Among them, Ts. Norhaizam Mustaffa of NanoMalaysia Bhd won the Most Innovative Speaker award, Saedah Zakirah Zul Azhar was named Most Outstanding Speaker and Natasha Joibi of WWF-Malaysia received the Most Outspoken Speaker award.

Lim Bee Ing, Regional Director for The University of Manchester Southeast Asia, highlighted the programme’s impact, “By bringing our expertise, networks and support directly to this region, we are helping women accelerate into leadership roles by equipping them with the skills, confidence and connections to make an impact locally and globally.”

Sarah Chen-Spellings, Co-Founder of Lean In Malaysia, reflected on the organisation’s growth over the past decade, noting that the movement focuses not only on women stepping up, but also on changing the systems that hold them back.

AMBS’s sponsorship of LICP 8.0 forms part of its 60th anniversary initiatives, with further programmes including a Digital Economy Masterclass on 30 October 2025 led by Professor Duncan Shaw.
