Belmond’s Iconic Train Now Takes You from Paris to Italy

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, A Belmond Train, is embarking on a new chapter of European luxury travel with the launch of Villeggiatura by Train. For the first time, the legendary blue-and-gold carriages will journey from Paris to the Amalfi Coast, marking a significant addition to Belmond’s celebrated Italian series.

Departing in May 2026, the new route offers an overnight rail journey from Paris to the Amalfi Coast, concluding with a stay at Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, in Ravello.

Continuing its tradition of linking Europe’s great destinations, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will carry guests from Paris to Pompeii before heading towards the Amalfi Coast. The journey includes a Champagne welcome, regionally inspired dining, and evenings in the train’s Bar Car ‘3674’ with live piano music and cocktails.

In Italy, guests enjoy a private tour of Pompeii, with Grand Suite guests granted special access to the Casa del Larario Regio V. Others can join a cooking class led by Executive Chef Armando Aristarco, highlighting the fresh flavours of Campania.

At Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, the experience continues with time to explore local traditions and cuisine. An evening by the hotel’s infinity pool celebrates Cilento’s best produce with live cooking, regional wines, and music against the Amalfi Coast backdrop.

Guests can spend the following day exploring by boat to Positano or painting the coastal views from Caruso’s terrace. The journey ends with a gala dinner in the hotel’s Wagner Gardens, a fitting finale to this new Belmond experience.

The new Paris–Amalfi Coast route joins a curated collection of Italian itineraries for 2026, including journeys ending in Venice and Florence. Each three-night experience celebrates the artistry and hospitality of Belmond’s hotels, from the glamour of Hotel Cipriani on the Venetian lagoon to the hillside elegance of Villa San Michele in Florence.

The collection also sees the return of the Paris–Portofino route, pairing a journey through the French and Italian Rivieras with a stay at the recently restored Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino.

Prices for Villeggiatura by Train start from EUR8,600 per person, based on two guests sharing a Historic Cabin on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and two nights in a Superior Garden View Room at Caruso. The itinerary includes an overnight rail journey with 24-hour steward service, all meals with sommelier-selected wines, transfers, and curated excursions.
