Q Centre Group has unveiled plans for a groundbreaking 9,000-bed Centralised Labour Quarters (CLQ) in Meru, Klang, a workers’ quarter project designed to redefine workforce housing through sustainability, technology and ESG excellence.
The ceremony, officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, marks a major step toward improving living standards for Malaysia’s industrial workforce through ESG-compliant and technology-driven housing.
“The project embodies our commitment to redefining workforce housing in Malaysia as we aim to create a sustainable, secure and tech-enabled environment that enhances worker wellbeing while driving industrial productivity,” Q Centre Group Joint Managing Director Dato’ Simon David Leong said.
Leong shared that the project’s construction will begin in January 2026, with completion targeted for December 2027.
The latest project follows Q Centre’s recently announced 8,000-bed artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled CLQ in Port Klang Free Zone, Malaysia’s first smart, energy-optimised workers’ quarters.
Leong also revealed that all upcoming Q Centre projects will integrate AI management systems, GreenRE-certified designs, solar energy and rainwater harvesting, aligning with Malaysia’s carbon reduction and ESG goals.
“Q Centre’s five-year plan targets over 50,000 beds nationwide, establishing a modern, compliant and sustainable network of CLQs across Peninsular Malaysia complete with security systems, welfare facilities and RBA-standard compliance,” Leong said, while emphasising that the initiative supports the Selangor government’s push to ensure all foreign workers are housed in licensed and well-managed quarters.
