UEM Edgenta Bhd celebrated the graduation of 15 Bumiputera vendors under its Vendor Development Programme (VDP) and welcomed six new participants in its third cohort at the UEM Edgenta Learning Centre.
The programme, launched in 2021, provides structured training, mentorship, and performance assessments to strengthen Bumiputera vendors and support Malaysia’s economic plans, including the 12th and 13th Malaysia Plans and the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030.
“To date, 15 vendors have completed the programme, achieving an average revenue growth of 30% and securing RM1.68 million in grants for upgrades and certifications,” said Chief Financial Officer Ahmad Fazril Fauzi.
Datuk Saidatu Akhma Hassan from the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development added, “UEM Edgenta’s VDP is an excellent example of how government-private sector collaboration can strengthen national supply chains and drive entrepreneurship.”
Supported by agencies including the Ministry of Finance, SME Bank, MIDF, PUNB, and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation, the VDP aims to create a competitive network of Bumiputera vendors capable of operating regionally and globally.
The graduation marks the completion of the first phase of the VDP, with a second phase planned to further enhance graduates’ skills and business capacity.
