EcoFirst Consolidated Bhd has announced the passing of its Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director, Dato’ Faisal Zelman bin Datuk Abdul Malik, at the age of 52.
Dato’ Faisal was appointed to EcoFirst’s board on 23 May 2024 and held the position of Chairman while serving as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
A seasoned professional with a strong background in both engineering and business, Dato’ Faisal held a Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Automotive Engineering from Bristol University and the University of Loughborough, United Kingdom, respectively. He also earned a Business Administration degree from Western Michigan University in 1996 and a Master of Business Administration from Twintech International University College of Technology in 2019.
His career spanned over three decades, beginning as a Floor Trader Assistant at Future Trading Sdn. Bhd. in 1992, followed by a long tenure at RMT Metals Sdn. Bhd. as Marketing Executive from 1993 to 2010. He later served as Managing Director for Urban Glory Travel Sdn. Bhd. (1997–2019) and Ciscorp Sdn. Bhd. (formerly Semerak Services Sdn. Bhd., 2018–2021), and as Director of Corporate Affairs for Fomema Sdn. Bhd. (2019–2021).
Dato’ Faisal also held numerous board positions in public-listed companies, including Vizione Holdings Berhad, Avillion Berhad, Ire-Tex Berhad, and Scomi Group Berhad. At the time of his passing, he served as Non-Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Central Global Berhad and Independent Non-Executive Director of Pertama Digital Berhad.
