Batik Air has strengthened its domestic network with the launch of its new Ipoh-Singapore route, a major boost for Perak’s aviation and tourism landscape.
State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said the new service reflects the airline’s confidence in Perak’s rising potential as an international tourism gateway.
“This launch comes at the right time as we intensify efforts to elevate Ipoh’s global positioning,” he said.
The inaugural flight from Singapore touched down at 11.30am with 73 passengers aboard a Boeing 737-800.
Moving forward, Batik Air will operate daily direct flights on the route from Sultan Azlan Shah Airport.
Batik Air CEO Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said the route underscores the airline’s commitment to linking vibrant Malaysian cities with key regional markets.
“Singapore remains Malaysia’s largest source of visitors, and giving travellers direct access into Ipoh unlocks new potential for tourism and business exchanges,” he said.
He added that investments in routes like Ipoh-Singapore form part of Batik Air’s strategy to strengthen national connectivity, support long-term tourism growth and position Malaysia as a future-ready travel hub in Southeast Asia.
