The appointment of a private company to collect payments for selected transport services will not interfere with or take over the MyJPJ system says Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah.
“They are only collectors. They have no connection with MyJPJ as it will not be touched, displaced or taken over by Rider Gate,” he said, emphasising that the company functions solely as a government-appointed payment agent.
Hasbi said JPJ’s ongoing digitalisation through the MyJPJ app including licence expiry alerts, renewals and online payments has improved transparency and reduced manual errors.
He also highlighted the ministry’s adoption of modern enforcement tools, including body-worn cameras (BWC) to boost integrity, the continued rollout of the Automated Enforcement System (AES) and plans for High-speed Weigh-in-Motion (HSWIM) technology to detect overloaded vehicles.
The ministry is additionally developing a database of heavy vehicle drivers to ensure only qualified individuals are appointed by operators.
On concerns that BWCs cost up to RM23,000 each, Hasbi said prices are expected to fall as the technology becomes more widely adopted.
