The Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange, set to open on Dec 13, is set to boost connectivity in Iskandar Puteri and slash travel times to the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Expressway, as well as reduce commutes to Singapore’s Tuas Checkpoint to around 15 minutes.
The RM166.4 million project features a trumpet-design elevated interchange, upgraded local roads and improved access around Gelang Patah and Gerbang Nusajaya.
Strategically located 5km from the Sultan Abu Bakar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex, the interchange also enhances connectivity to Nusajaya Tech Park, the Southern Industrial and Logistics Clusters, and surrounding residential and commercial areas, supporting a growing workforce and business activity.
UEM Sunrise CEO Shaharul Farez Hassan said the project “strengthens access to the Second Link Expressway, supports business growth under the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and improves mobility across the township and surrounding areas as Iskandar Puteri develops”.
The interchange is part of Gerbang Nusajaya, UEM Sunrise’s 4,471-acre integrated township with a projected RM45 billion gross development value, linking existing neighbourhoods with upcoming phases that include more than 2,900 residential units and commercial developments through 2026.
By improving traffic flow, cross-border access and operational efficiency, the Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange reinforces Iskandar Puteri’s role as a strategic economic hub under Flagship B of the JS-SEZ, boosting its appeal to investors, residents, and businesses.
