Home Affairs Ministry To Upgrade Johor-Singapore Checkpoints

The Ministry of Home Affairs is carrying out a comprehensive upgrade of immigration facilities and systems at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex to improve travel between Malaysia and Singapore, especially during peak hours.

The ministry said the enhancements focus on short- and medium-term improvements to infrastructure, automation and digital systems.

Key measures include the installation of 40 additional NIISe eGates and 145 MyNIISe QR Code scanners across motorcycle, vehicle and pedestrian lanes by Dec 31, which is expected to double processing capacity at both entry points.

The ministry is also accelerating upgrades to the MyIMMs and NIISe systems to increase stability, responsiveness and capacity.

Internet connectivity at critical locations is being strengthened in collaboration with telecommunications providers to prevent disruptions during busy periods.

The ministry is integrating the MyNIISe and MyBorderPass systems to create a seamless flow for local and foreign travellers.

A Special Task Force has been established to monitor the upgrade work weekly until all systems are fully operational by the end of December.

Malaysian travellers are encouraged to use the MyNIISe app and automated eGate lanes to help optimise traffic flow.
