MBI Backs Privacy-First Age Verification To Help Platforms Meet Youth Safety Rules

My Blockchain Infrastructure Sdn Bhd (MBI) has endorsed a privacy-preserving age verification solution built on the Zetrix platform, positioning it as a practical way for social media and messaging services to comply with tightening age-related rules without hoarding users’ personal data.

MBI said the Zetrix-based solution allows users to verify their age once via government-recognised identity providers such as MyDigital ID or the National Integrated Immigration System.

“Users then receive a secure digital proof that confirms only what is necessary, such as whether they meet an age threshold without revealing identity card images, biometrics or personal details.

“Platforms can rely on a simple ‘eligible or not’ verification result, sharply reducing the sensitive data they need to store and protect. Raw eKYC data is not retained indefinitely and is securely deleted, lowering privacy and breach risks,” MBI CEO Azhar Abu Talib said, while emphasising that age verification must be implemented responsibly.

“This is a privacy-first approach that meets safety and regulatory expectations while minimising unnecessary data handling.”

Meanwhile, Zetrix AI Bhd Group Managing Director TS Wong said the solution is designed to be easy for platforms to adopt and straightforward for users by keeping data minimisation and trust at the core.

MBI and Zetrix AI are inviting platform operators to explore pilots and integrations as regulations evolve.
