AirAsia X Berhad has announced the appointment Bo Lingam (Tharumalingam Kanagalingam) as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective today, January 19, 2026.
Bo, 60-year-old Malaysian, brings over two decades of extensive experience within the AirAsia Aviation Group to his new role.
Since joining AirAsia in 2001 as a Ground Operations Manager, Mr. Tharumalingam has been a pivotal figure in implementing the low-cost airline model and driving the airline’s strategic direction and regional expansion. His career trajectory at AirAsia has seen him hold numerous senior leadership positions, including Group Chief Operations Officer, President & Group Chief Operations Officer, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer of Airlines, and Group President of Airlines.
Most recently, as the Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group Limited, he was instrumental in strengthening AirAsia’s presence across Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia, while also overseeing the establishment of new airlines within the Group.
Bo is noted for his focus on operational excellence, process optimization, and enhancing the overall customer experience. He remains committed to delivering innovative ancillary solutions and ensuring seamless, personalized travel experiences for modern travelers.
