UMediC Group Bhd has leased a 3.06-acre industrial land in Batu Kawan Industrial Park 3 for RM11.4 million, paving the way for a new manufacturing facility to support its expansion in medical consumables.
The 60-year lease, signed through its wholly owned subsidiary UWHM Sdn Bhd with the Penang Development Corporation, will be funded through a combination of internal funds and bank borrowings, with payments made in tranches.
The land will house a new manufacturing facility under UMC’s expansion roadmap, aimed at boosting production capacity, supporting new product lines and enhancing operational resilience. The facility will also free up capacity at the group’s existing plant to ramp up output of its HydroX series prefilled humidifiers.
Chief Executive Officer Lim Taw Seong said the expansion strengthens UMC’s manufacturing foundation and positions the group for long-term growth, reinforcing its strategy as a vertically integrated healthcare solutions provider.
