Malaysia Expands Travel Advisory As Airspace Closure Hits More Countries

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) has escalated its emergency response to the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East, expanding its travel advisory to include several additional nations as airspace closures and communication disruptions spread across the region.

In its second update of the day (Ref: 015), the Ministry confirmed that the conflict has now significantly impacted travel and safety protocols in Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Oman. This follows earlier disruptions reported in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, and the UAE.

As of Sunday evening, Wisma Putra has officially advised all Malaysian citizens to avoid non-essential travel to these countries until the situation stabilise.

The Ministry warned that travelers in these areas are currently facing “highly dynamic” security environments, including sudden flight diversions, temporary internet outages, and regional periods of public mourning that may restrict movement.

Wisma Putra reassured the public that all Malaysians currently in contact with diplomatic missions—spanning from the United Kingdom (transit) to Syria and Iraq—are reported safe. Temporary accommodation and alternative travel arrangements are being coordinated by Malaysian missions on the ground.

Regarding recent security reports from the Sultanate of Oman, the Ministry stated it is closely monitoring the situation.
