Vietjet has picked up two major wins at the Airline Excellence Awards 2026, taking the title of “World’s Best Ultra Low-Cost Carrier 2026” and landing in the Top 10 low-cost airlines globally. It’s a familiar position—the airline has held the top ultra-low-cost spot since 2018, and shows no sign of slowing.
The formula is straightforward: keep fares low, keep routes growing, and keep things simple. That approach has helped open up air travel across Asia-Pacific, making short-haul trips more accessible without overcomplicating the experience.
From Malaysia, the offering is clear. Daily flights connect Kuala Lumpur with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, providing numerous travel options for quick getaways or business trips. Regular promotions and flexible fare types—including Business and SkyBoss—add a bit more choice without pushing prices too far out of reach.
According to Sharon Petersen, it’s the combination of pricing, a modern fleet and an expanding network that keeps Vietjet ahead. Add in frequent fare deals and the SkyJoy loyalty programme, and the airline continues to pull in repeat travellers while widening its reach.
Beyond price, there’s a steady focus on reliability. Vietjet holds a 7/7 safety rating from AirlineRatings and gained recognition from groups including CAPA – Centre for Aviation and the World Travel Awards. The message is simple: low cost doesn’t mean cutting corners, and that balance is what keeps it competitive.
