Sunway Clinches RM1.75 Billion Data Centre Contract In Selangor

Sunway Construction Group Berhad (SunCon) has secured a RM1.75 billion contract to build a hyperscale data centre in Bandar Serendah, Selangor, marking another major win in Malaysia’s fast-growing digital infrastructure space.

The group said its wholly owned unit entered into a construction agreement with an international hyperscaler on April 17.

The project will involve the construction, completion, testing and commissioning of the facility, including core and shell structures, campus infrastructure, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) fit-out works.

Construction is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2026 and is targeted for completion by the third quarter of 2028.

SunCon said the contract is expected to contribute positively to its earnings from the financial year ending 2026 onwards, although it will not have an immediate material impact on earnings per share, net assets per share or gearing for the current financial year.

The group noted that the project carries typical construction risks, particularly fluctuations in material prices, but added that these are manageable given its experience and expertise in similar projects.
